What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity over broad time domains. CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more.

CrossFit eliminates routine and challenges participants each and every session to strive to be the best they can be. All workouts are designed for universal scalability, meaning it is suitable for anyone regardless of experience and fitness level.  

At CrossFit Ocean Grove, our CrossFit classes are designed to deliver a challenging, fun, and inclusive workout experience using proven CrossFit methodologies:

  • Metabolic Conditioning: We build cardiovascular endurance by targeting three energy systems: aerobic, lactic acid, and phosphocreatine pathways.
  • Gymnastics: Develops body control and range of motion, enhancing overall functional fitness, flexibility and mobility.
  • Weightlifting: Focuses on strength and power by teaching you to control external objects effectively.

We also believe diet to be the foundation of fitness and health and encourage our athletes to

eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar.  Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.

What to expect?

Every CrossFit class at Ocean Grove is designed to be adaptable to all fitness levels. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an elite athlete, our workouts can be modified in weight, intensity, and movement complexity to match your needs.

Our philosophy of “constantly varied” programming keeps workouts exciting and engaging, ensuring that no two days are the same. We focus on functional movements inspired by gymnastics, weightlifting, rowing, and more—preparing you for the demands of everyday life.

Class Structure

Each class is approximately 60 minutes long and follows a structured format:

  1. Warm-Up: Guided by a certified coach to prepare your body for movement and reduce the risk of injury.
  2. Movement Instruction and Demonstration: Your coach will walk you through the movements in the workout, ensuring you understand proper technique and form.
  3. Workout of the Day (WOD): A high-intensity, constantly varied workout designed to challenge you physically and mentally.
  4. Cool Down and Mobility: To aid in recovery and enhance flexibility.

Throughout the class, our certified coaches provide supervision, motivation, and corrections to help you get the most out of your workout safely and effectively.
